Four innovators win € 200,000 in 2018 European Social Innovation Competition

We are thrilled to announce the winners of the 2018 European Social Innovation Competition++EUSICThe European Social Innovation Competition is an initiative of the DG Growth of the European Commission, and is organised by Nesta, Kennisland, Ashoka, ENoLL and Scholz & Friends. You can find more information about this project here.! Chosen from a total of nearly 800 entries, the projects were each awarded € 50,000 at the Awards Ceremony in Brussels on 8 November.

The winners of the 2018 European Social Innovation Competition areChosen from a total of nearly 800 entries, the projects were each awarded € 50,000 at the Awards Ceremony in Brussels.:

• Career Bus brings career orientation to young people living in rural areas by combining innovative technologies and a face-to-face interaction. Travelling to remote places, Career Bus will boost the employability and knowledge of young residents.
• Heritage Lab teaches established innovation incubation methods to young people in small towns, supporting them in the launch of new businesses and services based on local cultural heritage that deserves appreciation.
• Ulisse is the first ever European digital platform that creates, markets and promotes local travel experiences and full-holiday bundles designed by deaf people for deaf people. By doing so, it also fosters international sign language education.

At the Awards Ceremony we heard from all ten finalists of this year’s competition, presenting their ideas to improveFocusing on this year’s theme we heard from  innovation experts sharing their experiences of supporting young people in taking the lead. local chances for youth in a changing economy through social innovation. In addition to our RE:THINK LOCAL winners, we also awarded a fourth Impact Prize to Mouse4All from Spain. They empower people with motor disabilities by allowing them to use all the apps in their Android device without touching the screen.
