has chosen thirty semi-finalists with bright ideas that work towards improving local chances for youth in a changing economy. The European Social Innovation Competition is an initiative of the DG Growth of the European Commission, and is organised by Kennisland++KL and EUSICKennisland has been involved with the competition for the last couple of years. The European Social Innovation Competition 2018 seeks local, new approaches that offer opportunities for youth, restore and stimulate local economic activities and react to economic and technical developments. This way, these approaches contribute to youth resilience and opportunities for youth in a local economy.
The judges met in Brussels on 7 June to select this year’s thirty semi-finalists. This year’s teams come from 20 different countries, and represent a wide range of sectors and activities. You can find their profiles here.
Tailored mentoring and support
From 16 to 18 July, the semi-finalists will receive tailored mentoring and support at the European Social Innovation Academy++ChallengesKennisland has extensive experience with tailor made programmes like the academy. This stage of the competition is aimed at providing the semi-finalists with the best chance in the competition and beyond.
During the academy, the semi-finalists will participate in workshops, join a social innovation public event and meet inspiring social innovators from local initiatives. After the academy, ten finalists will be selected, of which three will each be awarded a € 50,000 prize at the awards ceremony in Brussels in November 2018.
